"Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset." Saint Francis De Sales

Excuses, Nez Perce & Historicon

**********

I have missed a few weeks of writing. Trips, projects and other busy things. Nothing specific, just a bunch of stuff mixed in with a touch of laziness and perhaps poor planning.

**********

On August 9, 1877 a band of Nez Perce fought with the U.S. Army at what is called the Battle of Big Hole. Afterward they headed north planning to cross into Canada. Unfortunately they never made it.

Learn more about the Nez Perce at their website.

Historicon 2019 was held at the Lancaster County Convention Center this year. It is a large, beautiful facility attached to the Marriott at Penn Square. Dee, our granddaughter Eryn and I stayed there, Eryn enjoying the indoor swimming pool.

My friend Bob and I had a table for "Wally's Basement," flea market. We both sold  a lot of our old books and figures, making those who bought them happy for the great prices.

We are looking forward to attending next year and hope to have all three granddaughters, along with our son Todd, attending.

Eryn is advising me how to best position my troops for a final assault.

Dee and I are downsizing. It is a single story home with a loft over the garage. The loft will be my new hobby room. We are still in the "beginning stages," but hope to have the home completed by early spring. I'll provide more information as we move forward.

"August rushes by like desert rainfall,
A flood of frenzied upheaval,
Expected,
But still catching me unprepared.
Like a matchflame
Bursting on the scene,
Heat and haze of crimson sunsets.
Like a dream
Of moon and dark barely recalled,
A moment,
Shadows caught in a blink.
Like a quick kiss;
One wishes for more
But it suddenly turns to leave,
Dragging summer away."
