"Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset." Saint Francis De Sales

Return, January & Settled

**********

"Je suis revenu."

My last blog entry was back in the Fall of 2019.

We have been busy with the sale of our house, traveling the east coast, waiting for the completion of the new home, and finally, moving in. We are settling in nicely and enjoying our new surroundings.

It has been a great adventure that I was able to share with my honey, Dee.

We researched and planned. We shared the excitement of watching our new home being built, the adventure of living with friends, traveling and visiting family, meeting new neighbors and finally the culmination of all of our efforts.

Thank you to all who were involved.

January is the start of a new year and a celebration of birthdays.
On Friday, January 24th, there is the Feast of St. Francis deSales. My patron saint for writing.

Sunday, the 26th is the birthday of Monsignor Shreve.

My birthday is January 25th. I find it interesting that I was born between a Saint and a Monsignor. Perhaps the Lord decided I would require a lot of "Spiritual Guidance."

The Richmond Spiders Men's basketball team now stands at 15-6 overall and 5-3 conference. The last two games, Dayton last Saturday and VCU Tuesday evening were tough losses. Hopefully lessons have been learned as the season continues.

A quick shot of my hobby desk. The "spider on the wall," is a birthday gift from Dee.

Our brother Roger, January 30, 1946 - January 12, 2020.
  His memory card had the following poem.

"Don' grieve for me, for now I'm free;
I took His hand when I heard Him call;
I turned my back and left it all.

If my parting has left a void;
then fill it with remembered joy.

My life's been full, I've savored much;
good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
ah yes, these things, I too, will miss.

Perhaps my time seemed all to brief;
don't lengthen it now with undue grief.

Lift up your hearts and share with me
God wanted me now,
He set me free."
