"Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset." Saint Francis De Sales

Fr. John, Cursillo & Music

**********

Sunday’s Homily, July 8, by Father John was strong and passionate. I felt the words caressing my heart and my mind as he spoke with conviction and purpose. There was strength when talked of Paul’s statement, “… for when I am weak, then I am strong.”
He spoke of the prophets and then named each one that faced ridicule, rejection and death as they preached God’s warnings.

I do not want to be a prophet.
Then Father John reminded us that we are prophets …

“As Christ was anointed Priest, Prophet, and King, so may you live always as a member of his body, sharing everlasting life.”

Sometimes the journey is not as smooth as I would like it to be.

Dee and I went to Historicon 2018 in Lancaster,  Pennsylvania last week. Tagging along was our granddaughter Hailey and our son Todd. While Todd and I were gaming, Dee and Hailey attended the production of “Jesus,” at the Sight and Sound Theatres. They spent time visiting one of the local Amish farms. Although Hailey was not interested in milking any of the cows. The swimming pool was another favorite attraction for Hailey and her new friend Olivia.

This game was the most enjoyable at Historicon. It was based on Bernard Cornwell's "Sharpe's Series." The game master, Robin Empey titled it "Sharpe's Priest." The rules are written by him and are titled "Green Jackets and Voltigeurs."

I finished reading the 10 novels of Conan by Robert E. Howard, L. Sprague De Camp, Lin Carter and Bjorn Nyberg.

An excellent read for anyone interested in “sword-and-sorcery.”

I enjoy music. Old rock and roll, folk, country and some classic. Every once in awhile something comes from one of the Disney movies and other new songs. So, I like sharing what I enjoy and hope that as I provide different videos each week there will be something that someone will also enjoy.

This week is a humorous song by John Prine.

Woke up this morning
Put on my slippers
Walked in the kitchen
And died

And oh, what a feeling!
When my soul
Went through the ceiling
And on up into heaven, I did ride

When I got there, they did say
"John, it happened this way
You slipped upon the floor
And hit your head"

And all the angels say
"Just before you passed away
That these were the very last words
That you said"

"Please don't bury me
Down in that cold, cold ground
No, I’d rather have 'em cut me up
And pass me all around"

"Throw my brain in a hurricane
And the blind can have my eyes
And the deaf can take both of my ears
If they don't mind the size"

"Give my stomach to Milwaukee
If they run out of beer
Put my socks in a cedar box
Just to get 'em out of here"

"Venus De Milo can have my arms
Look out! I've got your nose
Sell my heart to the junk man
And give my love to Rose"

“Chorus”

"Give my feet to the footloose
Careless, fancy free
And give my knees to the needy
Don't pull that stuff on me"

"Hand me down my walking cane
It’s a sin to tell a lie
Send my mouth way down south
And kiss my ass goodbye"

“Chorus”
