"Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset." Saint Francis De Sales

My Slow Takes (Vol. 98)

1. The Women’s weekend closing was a rejuvenating event for me. Fifteen women each told their experience and how it changed their spiritual lives. There were many tears, laughter and loving support from the Cursillo family in attendance. Dee and I enjoyed being part of their “Fourth Day.”

2. Lord please help the people recovering from the devastating tornadoes in Oklahoma, the survivors, family & friends, for the souls of those who are now with You.

3.      "My child, when you come to serve the Lord,
         prepare yourself for trials.
         Be sincere of heart and steadfast,
         and do not be impetuous in time of adversity.
         Cling to Him, do not leave Him,
         that you may prosper in your last days.
         Accept whatever happens to you;
         in periods of humiliation be patient.
         For in fire gold id tested,
         and the chosen, in the crucible of humiliation.
        Trust in God, and He will help you;
        make your ways straight and hope in Him."   Sirach 2:1-6

One of my brothers in Christ attended a memorial honoring veterans past, present and future. He himself is a veteran and the occasion brought back memories of those he knew that are now with our Lord. His heart is filled with sorrow and his mind wonders why he is here while others he served with are not. We tried to explain that there are no finite answers to his questions. I suggested that, in their memory, he should consider living his life trusting in our Lord and doing the best he is capable of being. Please say a prayer for him and all the other veterans who sacrificed for us.

4. Great news Jennifer! Ignatius Press is an excellent publisher. “You have chosen...wisely.”

5. This day in 1960, the song, “Cathy’s Clown” was the number one hit on the music charts. It was written and sung by two of my favorite singers Don and Phil Everly.

6. “A Look at Life from a Deer Stand” is a book written by Steve Chapman. He is an expert hunter, writer, singer, husband and father. The book is about his hunting experiences and how they relate to spiritual and daily life. He keeps everything simple but his messages are strong and inspiring. I recommend reading, even if you are not a hunter.

7. Memorial Day has become the day that starts the season of summer. What is more important is that it is a day to remember those who died while serving our country. Please take a moment to say a prayer for them.
