My Slow Takes (vol. 61)

1. Mitt Romney has chosen a Catholic as his running mate for the Presidential campaign. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin.

CatholicVote.org is endorsing Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.

The Catholic News Agency has an article on the announcement.

Deacon Greg Kandra provides his input.

We all have a lot to pray about.

2. Bonnie, over at Learning to be a Newlywed shared a Paul Simon video. This one is one of my favorites, Paul and Chevy.

3.Dee and I attended evening Mass on Wednesday which was the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Monsignor Shreve talked about the basic parts of the “Hail Mary.” The first part being the words from the Angel Gabriel when he appeared to Mary. The second part from Mary’s greeting from Elizabeth when she traveled to her home. The last part being words developed by the Church. He suggested that we think about the words as we pray and reflect on each part.

Saying the prayer in this way made me more aware of Mary and how important she is to all of us. I thought about her unquestioned faith upon the announcement of her gift. I tried to imagine the love her and Elizabeth shared knowing that God was with them.

My faith and love for Mary has not always been strong. It wasn’t until my weekend that I realized the changes I had to make. The rosary that was presented to each of us is with me all the time. I have prayed the rosary more in the last two years than I ever had. Mary has listened and I am thankful for her help and forgiveness.

4. Dee made stuffed peppers this week. It’s been a while since we have had them for dinner. I told her they were awesome!

5. On Fridays there is a group of us that get together for lunch. My brother-in-Christ Roger showed up about a half hour late. After he sat down he informed us he had been waiting for us at another restaurant. He finally figured out he was in the wrong place.

6. I didn't get to do any miniature painting this week. Need to get back to it.

7. My gauge on the economy is when agencies start contacting me about jobs. I got a call this week. No, Im not job shopping, just listening to what is going on.

  1. I also love finding the beauty and truth in prayers that we are so familiar with.
