"Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset." Saint Francis De Sales

Fort Niagara, Friends and Finished

My Slow Takes

1.I have a correction to last week’s “Slow Takes.” The movie that Justin, Eric and I went to see was “Jurassic World.” And, I did enjoy that. We watched “The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies,” at Eric and Lynne's house. Our grandson Conner has the DVD and has been waiting to share it with me. He and I are followers of the Tolkien stories.

2. The fall of Fort Niagara, July 25,1759. There is some great information at militaryhistoryabout.com

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.” –C.S. Lewis

4. Saturday night we celebrated the 25th wedding anniversary of our close friends Pam and Tony. It was a great evening.

5. Monday night was our Men's Cursillo dinner. We hold this a few times a year and have the wives join us. Also in attendance was Monsignor Thomas Shreve.

Jerry, Carolyn, Brenda, John, Mary and Monsignor Shreve. (back right.)
6. Our kitchen has been completed. We have everything installed and the walls painted.

7. Roger Miller - "You Can't Roller Skate in a Buffalo Herd."

Go over to "This Ain't the Lyceum,” where Kelly is hosting more takes.
