Thoughts For Tuesday

Next week is our annual trip to the Outer Banks. I always look forward to this and start planning too far in advance. Work becomes less important as I start to dream about sunshine and lazy days. I check the weather daily to make sure there is little or no rain. But all of this was temporarily interrupted by an article in "USA Today" . On May 21st is the beginning of the end of the world. No thank you, not true because we don't know when, only God does. Matthew 24:36. To support my statement I found some one who has already provided some incite to this prediction. Charles Tucker, a preacher in Denbigh, Virginia writes a blog that I read and enjoy. Yesterday he wrote "On Mowing the Lawn and the End of the Word." Please read it and then continue with whatever your plans were for this weekend. Life is good, we are all blessed by God.

I have been thinking about prayer, how to pray; don't be afraid to ask God for help; be careful what you pray for. There have been many times that I have prayed, and prayed and didn't seem to get any results. What I failed to realize is that I don't always pray for the right things. I pray for things I think I need. It would be good if I took the time to consider that God knows what I need. I need to have stronger faith in Him. This is not easy for me but I continue to work on it. It also helps to read the following that was written by an unknown author. It is from the blog by Terry Murphy "Emmaus Talk."

"I asked for strength.
God gave me difficulties to make me strong.

I asked for wisdom.
God gave me problems to solve.

I asked for prosperity.
God gave me brawn and brain to work.

I asked for courage.
God gave me dangers to overcome.

I asked for patience.
God placed me in situations where I was forced to wait.

I asked for love.
God gave me troubled people to help.

I asked for favors.
God gave me opportunities.

I received nothing I wanted.
I received everything I needed.

Today is the last day of your life ...........
so far."
